Expedia.com.au today said customers booking flights, hotels, packages or car reservations will no longer be hit with charges for altering their trips.
It is the first online travel website to allow its Australian customers to change or cancel their bookings over the phone without being slugged with a fee, Louise Crompton, Marketing Manager for Expedia.com.au, said.
"Expedia understands that sometimes circumstances can affect travel plans at a moment's notice," Ms Crompton said.

Remember the "America-only" provision in Expedia's Best Price Guarantee?
Earlier this week, I wrote about reader Craig Simpson's efforts to persuade the online agency to adjust his rate at a hotel in Antigua after he found a lower rate on the property's Web site.
But Expedia's price warranty had a provision that "in the unlikely event that you find a lower rate on Expedia.com or on another U.S.-based website within 24 hours of booking with Expedia.com, we will credit or refund to you the difference."

Travelocity and Expedia are online travel agencies (OTAs), which sell airline tickets and other travel products directly.
But meta search sites such as TripAdvisor.com/flights, Travelzoo's fly.com, Momondo.com, dohop.com, kayak.com and Bing.com/travel search many different Web sites, including OTAs themselves and airline sites, to compare prices.
One thing that meta search engines do especially well is finding airfares that the airlines sell only on their own sites.
